At
the Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel you will
enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay in a variety
of individually styled bedrooms and public areas,
all tastefully furnished retaining many
original features such as Four-Poster suites
and roaring log fires. This complemented
by an excellent selection of food
and wine will ensure you will only take
home fond memories of your stay
in this delightful part of North
Wales.
The
hotel was built in 1890 by an industrialist from the Midlands
as a private house, where he could enjoy a retreat
from the pressure of business, being converted to a hotel
in the early 1920's, and carrying on as such to the
present day, with a brief interval during war time when
it was taken over by the Ministry of Defence
for secret operations.
Elgar,
the famous composer, spent much time here relaxing along
the riverbank contemplating the views, which have changed
little since that time. The wooded slopes and the winding
River Conwy running down the valley are quite magnificent.
Betws-y-Coed is centrally located in North Wales and you
will find that nearly all roads lead to this village making
it very difficult to get lost.
The Hotel has ample
free parking and our secluded location away from the main
road makes us the perfect retreat. At the Craig-y-Dderwen
you will have the best of both worlds, tranquil location
and within a 5-10 minute walk from the busy village
centre of Betws-y-Coed. |
