History of this Hotel in Betws-y-Coed, Snowdonia, North Wales

This historically important Country House Hotel has undergone major but sympathetic refurbishment over the past few years, restoring this magnificent Victorian house and gardens back to their original splendour whilst incorporating all of the luxuries you would expect in a hotel of this standard.

The hotel was built in 1890 by an industrialist from the Midlands as a private house, where he could enjoy a retreat from the pressure of business, being converted to a hotel in the early 1920's, and carrying on as such to the present day, with a brief interval during war time when it was taken over by the Ministry of Defence for secret operations.

Elgar, the famous composer, spent much time here relaxing along the riverbank contemplating the views, which have changed little since that time.
